چکیده

We report on the recent progress in the design and development of completely monolithic linearly-polarized pulsed fiber amplifiers seeded by Q-switched fiber laser oscillators. We demonstrate near diffraction limited beam quality with ~20kW peak power (1mJ pulse energy, ~45nsec) pulses and an average power ~20W at 20kHz repetition rate with linearly polarized (>17dB PER) output from a simple MOPA design. The laser produces spectrally narrow pulses with ~0.5nm linewidth centered at 1064nm, suitable for various non-linear applications including generation of visible and UV light. The simple MOPA design consists of a monolithic fiber amplifier based on an optimized coil of polarization maintaining large mode area (PM-LMA) fiber with 30μm-core and low power Q-switched fiber oscillator. Excellent output beam quality is achieved through the mode selectivity of the coiled PM-LMA fiber in the amplifier stage. Such compact and robust fiber lasers are suitable for a variety of applications, such as nonlinear wavelength conversion processes using a variety of nonlinear materials, laser radars, etc.

Single Crystal Fiber for Ultrashort Pulses Lasers

Driven by the micromachining industry, where short pulses mean precision and power equals process speed, short pulse width high power lasers are in high demand. Whereas the MOPA (Master Oscillator Power Amplifier) is the current preferred architecture, it still suffers from performance limitations and high costs associated with system complexity and power amplifier limitations. A new amplifier ...

1.7MW Nd:YAG Laser Pulse Generation by A Passive BDN Q-switch

This paper describes the passive Qswitch, based on polymer and organic dye BDN, of a pulsed Nd:YAG laser. Pulses of 27ns duration and peak power of 1.7MW for initial transmission of Q-switch 18.4% 0 T = have been obtained. We have obtained Q-switching efficiency of 77% for train of pulses of 31 and 76.2% 0 T = at the pump energy of 98J. We have also obtained the dependency of laser pulse charac...

All fiber-based Yb-doped high energy, high power femtosecond fiber lasers.

Two all fiber-based laser systems are demonstrated to achieve high energy and high average power femtosecond pulsed outputs at wavelength of 1 µm. In the high energy laser system, a pulse energy of 1.05 mJ (0.85 mJ after pulse compressor) at 100 kHz repetition rate has been realized by a Yb-doped ultra large-core single-mode photonic crystal fiber (PCF) rod amplifier, seeded with a 50 µJ fiber ...

Narrow linewidth picosecond UV pulsed laser with mega-watt peak power.

We demonstrate a master oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) burst mode laser system that generates 66 ps/402.5 MHz pulses with mega-watt peak power at 355 nm. The seed laser consists of a single frequency fiber laser (linewidth < 5 KHz), a high bandwidth electro-optic modulator (EOM), a picosecond pulse generator, and a fiber based preamplifier. A very high extinction ratio (45 dB) has been achie...
